Sling regular loads and communicate during crane operations Unit Standard 3789

This assessment is designed for people currently working on sites where cranes are operating and where there is a requirement to communicate with the operators.  

Attendees will be assessed by theory and on practical skills in rigging and communicating with crane operators.

This course is based on coaching and assessment only and is designed for trainees with experience in and around crane operations.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Apply knowledge of risk management, hazard control, and rigging planning to slinging regular loads;

  • demonstrate knowledge of the difference between regular loads and irregular loads;

  • demonstrate crane industry communication methods;by both radio communication and approved hand signals 

  • prepare and sling regular loads, and safely direct a crane during crane operations.

Pre-Requisites

Evidence of  experience in an environment where cranes are operating.
Unit Standard 30072 Knowledge of slinging regular loads safely*

*If trainees do not hold 30072 do not panic we can assess this unit for you also over separate days
